This drawing is in the Dec/Jan 97/98 issue of Boston Review illustrating an article by Ian Ayres and Jeremy Bulow about campaign spending reform. I admit I have never seen a ballot box like the one shown here, but any real balloting apparatus would be too specific to be recognized by everybody, and that's why cartoonists use stereotypes. (The lady with the voting list and the ruler and pen is real, however.)
